Meet Gablok’s founders, Simon & GabrieL
Gablok was an idea born out of a love for the interlocking building block toys of our childhood. Founder Gabriel Lakatos worked in traditional construction for over 25 years before filing the Gablok patent in 2018. Founded in Belgium in 2019, they have a single objective: to enable anyone to build their own construction project.
Gablok is now targeting self-builders with a construction method that is revolutionising the building world. It involves a flat-pack timber house system that involves stacking insulated wooden blocks on top of each other to build the structure of a house. All this without the need for any special tools, skills, or construction knowledge. It’s a daring project that has already enabled 300+ owner-builders to bring their dream homes to life with their own hands!
The Gablok DIY housing system
Gablok provides a fast and innovative construction solution using sustainable resources that meet modern construction standards. Our system is made up of just 8 light-weight components so any owner-builder can take charge of their build.
We simply adapt your architectural plans to suit our system, draft step-by-step construction plans, and then deliver the flat-packed components in the order of build complete with step-by-step construction plans. This ensures a Gablok build is fast. As an example, a 100m2 home structure can be built in just 5-6 days with only 2-3 people. We guide you in how to get started, then it's up to you. All you need are a handful of basic construction tools.
